LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti announced today that the City of Los Angeles will be opening its Local Assistance Center at the Mason Recreation Center on Friday morning, February 19th, at 10:00 A.M.  The center will be run by the Los Angeles Emergency Management Department (EMD) which is leading recovery efforts for the Porter Ranch community now that the state has confirmed the leaking gas well at Aliso Canyon has been sealed.

"We can breathe a sigh of relief that finally the leak is permanently stopped. Our residents and businesses can now begin the process of returning home and getting back to their normal routines," said Mayor Garcetti.  "We know there are questions and concerns moving forward, and  we are going to be there every step of the way to ensure this transition is as seamless and painless as possible."

The Local Assistance Center will provide a centralized location where residents and businesses can access programs and services from a variety of agencies to help facilitate the transition. This includes information on potential refunds related to disruption of City services, updates from the Los Angeles County Assessor based on change of residence during the relocation, disaster relief available to impacted businesses, and access to mental health services.
