LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced more than 10 unhoused Angelenos came inside from encampments near freeways on the Westside and in Hollywood this week through Inside Safe. These efforts were conducted in partnership with Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez and Councilwoman Traci Park. Click here for photos and b-roll of the Westside operation.
“The issue of homelessness in Los Angeles is complex, and we know that addressing this issue takes urgency, coordination and partnership,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “Partnership is essential if we are to create real, long-term solutions, especially at the local level, in order to address the complexity of this national crisis. I am pleased to be Councilwoman Park and Councilmember Soto-Martinez’s partner on the Inside Safe initiative to support proven, community-driven solutions to homelessness in LA.”

In 2023, tent encampments came down in every council district and thousands more Angelenos came inside than in 2022 thanks to action locking arms with the City Council, County and LAHSA. The Mayor has worked to improve services provided for unhoused Angelenos coming inside and has also been vocal about the need to make homelessness programs more cost effective as this urgent work continues.
